Lamplighters Orthopaedic Association Annual Meeting

We are pleased to announce that we have secured a contract with La Playa Carmel for the above dates, arriving Wednesday with departure on Sunday. This is the optimal time of the year for this area because we usually enjoy excellent Indian summer weather. Please see the attached photo gallery of this beautiful historic hotel. The meeting room is large enough to have our own sit-down breakfast with a beautiful ocean view. The location of the hotel emphasizes "walkability" to famous Carmel shops, restaurants, galleries and the beach.

Carmel is served by Monterey Airport (MRY) 10 miles away or by San Jose Mineta Airport (SJC), 70 miles north. Most airlines fly into both of these airports.
It is very important for you to make your reservations as early as possible. Make sure to indicate that you are part of the Lamplighter Orthopaedic Association group so you can be included in the room block. Since this is a historic hotel there are no elevators, so ask for the main floor if you do not want to deal with stairs.

YOSEMITE VALLEY and the magnificent AHWAHNEE HOTEL
This is a wonderful opportunity to see one of our national treasures, our first designated national park. As I said at the Chicago meeting, " If you have not been to Yosemite, you cannot call yourself an American." Yosemite is 3.5 hours east of Monterey, traveling through San Joaquin valley to the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Depending on the number of you opting for this post trip, we will travel by vans or bus.
The AHWAHNEE HOTEL is spectacular. We have arranged for dinner the night of arrival in a special room. Sight-seeing, hiking, biking and photography of the jaw-dropping views are just a few of the wonderful activities that await you.
For those that choose to go to Yosemite, we suggest that your most convenient departure flight will be from Fresno Yosemite International Airport (2 hours from Yosemite Valley). Refer to the following website for flight information: http://flights.expedia.com/flights-from-fat-airport/
We hope that at least ten couples choose to go with us to Yosemite, so we have reserved six rooms at the AHWAHNEE and four at YOSEMITE LODGE which is nice, but not as special. We absolutely need to have these reservations made by March 15 or we are then accountable for 25% of the room block.
